Prepping for Black Friday as an influenceR

involves planning and execution to maximize your impact and engagement during this busy time as a content creator. Here’s a few ideas we have put together for you, hopefully giving you some time to enjoy the season too!

  1. Set Clear Goals: Define your objectives for Black Friday. Are you looking to increase your affiliate sales, promote specific products, or gain more followers? Setting clear goals will guide your strategy.

  2. Partner with Brands: Collaborate with brands that align with your niche and audience. Discuss the products or offers they will have for Black Friday and create a strategy together.

  3. Create a Content Calendar: Plan your Black Friday content well in advance. Create a content calendar that outlines the type of content you’ll post, when you’ll post it, and which platforms you’ll use. Consider using a mix of videos, images, and stories.

  1. Teasers and Previews: Build anticipation by posting teasers and previews of the Black Friday deals. These could be posts, stories, or even live streams where you discuss what’s coming.

  2. High-Quality Content: Ensure your content is of high quality, engaging, and informative. Use professional photography, video editing, and compelling captions to stand out.

  3. Affiliate Marketing: If you have affiliate partnerships, promote your affiliate links alongside your content. Share exclusive discount codes or affiliate offers to incentivize your followers.

  4. Giveaways and Contests: Hosting a giveaway or contest can help increase engagement and follower growth. Encourage users to participate by sharing your content or tagging friends.

  5. Use Hashtags: Utilize relevant Black Friday and Cyber Monday hashtags to increase the discoverability of your content. Create a unique hashtag for your campaign as well.

  1. Stories and Live Streams: Utilize Instagram Stories, Facebook Live, or other live streaming platforms to interact with your audience in real-time and answer questions about deals and products.

  2. Email Marketing: If you have an email list, send out newsletters with exclusive Black Friday content and deals. This can help you reach your most dedicated followers.

  3. Monitor Analytics: Keep a close eye on your analytics to understand what content is performing well and adjust your strategy accordingly. Platforms like Instagram and YouTube offer valuable insights.

  4. Engage with Followers: Respond to comments and engage with your followers throughout the Black Friday period. Authentic interactions can boost your credibility and build trust.

  1. Post-Black Friday Follow-Up: After Black Friday, share your success stories, customer testimonials, or review the deals and products you promoted. This can help maintain engagement and trust with your audience.

  2. Stay Informed: Stay updated on the latest Black Friday trends and news in your niche. This will help you create content that is timely and relevant.

  3. Be Transparent: Always be transparent with your audience about any affiliations or sponsorships. Honesty and authenticity are key to maintaining trust.

WORKBENCHcon Experience

Every WORKBENCHcon requires months of intense preparation. From the schedule to the venue, every detail is given much consideration. We want every WORKBENCHcon to be an awesome and unforgettable experience for all of our attendees.

As an attendee, you also spend a lot of time and effort to be at WORKBENCHcon. There’s tons to consider, like working out your schedule, the expenses involved, packing, travel arrangements, and more. Once you get here and start to take in all that we’ve put together for you, you’ll want to retain as much as you can, so when you get back home, you can put what you experienced to work for you.

Here are some ways to maximize your WORKBENCHcon experience.

1. Bring Plenty of Business Cards & Stickers
You’re going to meet a lot of amazing people—fellow creators, potential collaborators, and industry leaders. Having business cards on hand makes it easy to exchange contact information and leave a lasting impression. Don’t miss the chance to connect!

Pro Tip: Jot down a quick note on the business card or sticker to remind you of the person. Mention this when you follow up the week after WORKBENCHcon.

2. Research Brands Ahead of Time
Take some time to research the brands that will be present at WORKBENCHcon. Knowing who you want to connect with and what they offer will make your conversations more impactful and help you forge meaningful partnerships.

Pro Tip: Pay attention to what they’re doing with influencer marketing and think about how your skills or ideas could align with their mission. When you follow up, pitch a tailored concept that shows how you can help them achieve their goals.

3. Perfect Your Elevator Speech
Be ready to introduce yourself with a clear and concise elevator speech. This is your chance to quickly communicate who you are, what you do, and what you’re looking for. A well-prepared introduction can open doors to new opportunities.

4. Stay Hydrated
With all the excitement and activities, it’s easy to forget to drink water. We’ll have water stations throughout the venue, so be sure to keep a bottle with you and stay hydrated. It’s the little things that keep you energized and focused.

Pro Tip: Bring your own branded water bottle to stay hydrated and make a statement. Consider bringing a couple of extras to gift to key contacts—it’s a thoughtful way to leave a lasting impression and keep your brand top of mind.

5. Plan Your Schedule
Check out the event schedule ahead of time and plan which sessions, workshops, and networking events you want to attend. Having a game plan helps you maximize your time and ensures you don’t miss out on anything important.

6. Take Notes
Bring a notebook or use your favorite digital note-taking app to jot down key insights, ideas, and contact information. This will help you capture all the valuable knowledge you’ll gain and make it easier to implement when you get back home.

By following these tips, you’ll be ready to fully immerse yourself in the WORKBENCHcon experience and take advantage of all the opportunities it offers.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

A few more tips:

  • Get Lots Of Rest

It can be easy to forget to get adequate rest during a trip away from home! This is a must, though, if you want to think and feel your best. Because you’ve spent considerable time and effort to attend WORKBENCHcon, getting plenty of sleep is essential if you want to take in all the instruction that’s presented during the conference.

Feeling well rested should also increase your confidence when talking with the brand representatives at WORKBENCHcon.

We’re not saying, though, that can’t have fun after conference hours! Just keep in mind how much rest you usually need to function properly the following day.

  • Business Cards

Business cards are essential for any conference. Don’t leave home without them! When you get back home, you’ll probably have tons of business cards from the makers and brands you met at WORKBENCHcon. You’ll want your business card to be in their stacks too!

  • Interact With Brands

The thought of meeting brand reps might seem to be intimidating and outside of your comfort zone. Indeed, the opportunity to work with a national brand is a big responsibility and privilege. In the end, business is business, and brand reps at WORKBENCHcon are looking for those who will best represent their brand and engage their audience.

However, brand reps are ordinary people just like you. Just have a friendly conversation with them! Ask them simple things like how they’re doing and how they’re enjoying the conference thus far. How was their trip to the venue? Engage them with a pleasant conversation and a friendly smile.

Once you move to business matters, tell them how you can benefit their brand, their audience, and their overall mission. Of course, before you can confidently give them such assurances, you need to know about them and their audience. Before the conference, take the time and research these things. A brand is much more likely to work with someone who is prepared, knows the brand beyond “I love using your product!”, has a plan, and confident in their ability to make that plan happen.

A great way to interact with the brands is to participate in the various DIY workshops. Not only are the workshops informative and fun, but they also present additional opportunities to connect with the brands you’d love to work with!

Maximize Your WORKBENCHcon Experience

Most important of all, we want you to have fun and enjoy yourself! Preparing well will help you to maximize your WORKBENCHcon experience.

Business Cards

WORKBENCHcon 2020 will provide networking opportunities with major brands and fellow makers, DIY-ers, bloggers, and influencers. This is a conference where, as a businessperson, you’ll want to have business cards available to hand out.

A friendly smile, conversational manner, and an effective business card will set yourself up for success at WORKBENCHcon.

Designing Your Business Cards

Business Cards

Business cards bear brief yet essential information about a company or individual. They are usually small, rectangular pieces of card stock that can conveniently fit in a pocket or a wallet. But even though they are small, any successful businessperson knows the importance of business cards. Indeed, they can mean the difference between a missed opportunity and success.

Business cards are a great way to show off your creativity! In addition including basic information such as your name, contact info, website name and url (if applicable), and social media handles, be sure to include graphics that stand out – if that fits with your overall branding. Because they are relatively small, it can be difficult to include the info and design you want on your cards without it looking overcrowded. It may be a little bit more expensive to make, but the back of your business card is a great chuck of available space for additional info.

Including a photo of yourself on the card is a great way to be remembered long after a conference ends.

Many business card manufacturers offer lots of style options like card thickness, gloss options, material options, and more. You’re not limited to the typical rectangular shape either, as many card companies offer square, round, and even folded options. Many DIY-ers out there even make their own cards out of materials such as wood, which results in a stunning little work of art that will stand out in a pile of cards.

Stickers

Business Cards

Stickers are a fun option to give out at conferences. Many folks love to trade these stickers as mementos and later display the ones they collected in their workshops.

We hope this article has provided some inspiration for you! Most people probably plan to bring 250 to 500 cards for a conference. Whatever decisions you make regarding your business cards, be sure not to wait until the last minute to get them made.

The first-ever WORKBENCHcon is set for February 22-24 in Atlanta’s trendy Westside district.

Organizers say it’s a gathering for DIYers, makers, brands and influencers looking for inspiration, education and networking.

Event founder, Kristin Stockdale of Stockdale Design, says the influencer social media world is constantly evolving. WORKBENCHcon was born to support an emerging trend in the maker DIY niche.

Stockdale, who was also one of the founders of the popular Haven Conference, said the idea for WORKBENCHcon came from what she saw happening at Haven. She noticed an increasing number of male maker DIYers attending the event.

“Haven has always been focused on design-DIYers but each year we’d see more and more men DIYers and makers attending,” Stockdale said. “I received feedback from folks who saw the need to focus more intentionally on furniture builders, home remodelers, and fine-skilled craftspeople.”

Stockdale said she’s been working closely with Ben Uyeda, from HomeMade Modern, to launch the event.

“Ben has been an inspiration,” Stockdale said. “This couldn’t have happened without his insight and support.”

The conference will feature a host of high profile speakers including; Jimmy DiResta, Bob Clagett, Evan & Katelyn, Brad Rodriguez and others. Breakout sessions on everything from welding techniques to tips on improving your podcasts are scheduled.

“We want to provide navigational support for people who are finding their way,” Stockdale said. “Our speakers aren’t only experts; they’re motivators who want people to succeed.”

Companies are realizing the importance of influencer marketing and are jumping on the bandwagon in a big way.

Nearly 75 percent of marketers planned to use influencers in their campaigns according to a recent survey from Sway Group. More than 80 percent of marketers say the tactic is effective.

Stockdale has clear goals for WORKBENCHcon in this changing world.

“I want people to feel empowered knowing that with hard work and dedication they can live their dream,” she said. “This doesn’t happen magically. It’s all about putting one foot in front of the other.”
